Over Earth Day Weekend FOKLSS helped create three different beach cleanups and joined the Eco Society’s Earth Day Parade in Nelson, BC.
On Sunday, April 22nd we had over 100 volunteers join us in cleaning the beach at Kokanee Creek Park!
One of the main concerns at our cleanups is the amount of polystyrene (Styrofoam) that is in the lake. These blocks break down into tiny toxic pieces which the birds and fish eat, thinking it is food. Most of these blocks are coming from old docks. Let’s do better in taking care of our lake!
