15 May BC Hydro’s Grohman Narrows Channel Improvement Project Update
“This spring, BC Hydro’s Grohman Narrows Channel Improvement Project team is continuing to work on a number of operating studies related to the potential improvements at Grohman Narrows. This supplementary set of studies is a result of feedback from elected officials, First Nations, stakeholders and the community, and is necessary for future discussions on the project and to determine next steps.
The results of these studies will be finalized by the end of the summer, and we expect to issue an update on the project in the fall of 2015. At that time, we will also host a public meeting in Nelson to review this information and ask for feedback from the public. Based on the feedback received, BC Hydro will determine whether to proceed with the next phase of the project. If the project moves ahead, the next phase would take up to two years and would be subject to regular re-evaluation of the project impacts, costs and benefits.” – Mary Anne Coules
