Our team will be sharing their knowledge on a little known population of Kokanee salmon that spawn on the shores of Kootenay Lake’s West Arm.
These salmon are genetically distinct to this area and, along with other fish species, have been greatly impacted by human influences on Kootenay Lake.
Come visit us at the nature centre if you would like to know more about our local shore spawners and how our team is planning to raise awareness.
Attendees will also get the chance to express their interest in joining our citizen science monitoring program, that will begin this fall and will focus on monitoring redds at specific sites on the West arm of Kootenay Lake.
