Spawning Kokanee Salmon are returning to the shorelines of Kootenay Lake and recording this data is crucial to understanding Kokanee populations and their reproductive success!
As part of our Shore-Spawning Kokanee Habitat Restoration & Research Project we are offering a free training workshop to teach local community members how to identify Shore-spawning Kokanee Salmon and their redds. Kokanee Salmon are in decline in Kootenay Lake, and collecting this data is important for Kokanee recovery.

Meeting Location: McDonald’s Landing Regional Park, then heading to Bonaventure Trailer Park around 11 a.m. to see another spawning site.
